Booth is one of the most important aspects of Spring Carnival at Carnegie Mellon. Booth involves competing to build the best single or double-story wooden house-like structures based on the theme for the year. Booths are typically intricately and colorfully decorated, with games for some of carnival's younger visitors to enjoy. Fringe is competitive as an independent organization that builds booth. Working on a booth involves design, carpentry, artwork, electrical systems and general project management skills, among others.
